Prepare a useful starting message
Enter one recipient address, such as team+events@example.com. Add a short, single-line subject and an optional body with any prompts you want the sender to complete. For example, use the subject “Workshop inquiry” and a body asking for the attendee name and preferred date.
Keep the message brief and leave room for the sender to explain what they need. Select Verify QR, then try the QR on a device with a configured email app to check how that app handles the draft. This form accepts ordinary unquoted email addresses; quoted mailbox names and non-ASCII characters before @ are not supported.
What a mailto QR actually does
The payload uses the mailto: URI scheme. The recipient, subject, and body are encoded so punctuation such as & does not accidentally become a new field. Unicode text is percent-encoded, and body line breaks use the mailto format.
Scanning can open a new message in the device’s chosen email application. It does not send mail by itself: the user reviews the recipient and message, edits it if needed, and presses Send. No mail server or email-delivery API is involved in creating the QR.
When a scan does not open a draft
If a scanner only shows the mailto text, try its link action or another compatible scanner. If no composer opens, the device may not have an email app configured as a handler.
Very long subjects or bodies can run into QR capacity or email-app limits. Shorten the message and test again. Attachments and rich HTML layouts are not part of this generator’s email QR format.
